The Firm
We believe in timeless design that responds directly to the site in both form and function.
Inspiring beauty is found in the sharpest of contrasts in the West. Imagine tucking into the calm behind a pine in a snowstorm, the oasis-like shade of a cottonwood along a hot summer trail, a warming fire as the cold night air falls down the mountain.
We custom build spaces that evoke and compliment such natural moments of beauty, strengthening your connection to your site and surroundings on a daily basis. We are in constant awe of the western landscape, and design to allow personal engagement with the visual, climactic, and acoustic wonders of our natural environment.
Our design process is based on 20 years of experience and repeat success. Every project is uniquely tailored to each site, the client's program, and their specific tastes. We guide you through decision making with ease and the process ensures that we land in the right spot every time.
Our top quality documentation enables financial accountability and a smooth building experience. We care for every project as if it were our own and are your advocate from the first scratch on paper to the day you move in.
The Founder
Matt Bowers’ career has been ingrained in the luxury design of Jackson Hole and the Mountain West for over two decades. His work experiences span from skyline shaping structures like the Four Seasons, Denver and the JH Performing Arts Center, to legacy family retreats and jewel-box cabin getaways. A deep foundation in the arts influences the balance of composition in his work and his careful consideration of proportions, focal points, and symmetries. His appreciation for the practical simplicity of the Western vernacular weighs heavy on his hand and the lines of his work.
In 2005, Matt graduated from the Kent State College of Architecture and Environmental Design, studying at both the Florence, Italy and Ohio campuses. Upon graduation, Matt moved to Jackson to work with Carney Architects, which later transitioned to CLB. There, he was an integral part of the firm’s rising and mentor to many.
In 2016, Matt designed and built a home for his family, personally handling vast portions of the structural and finish work. This immersive process created an understanding of the building craft that few architects rival, and a mutual respect with the top builders in the region.
In 2019, with the support of his clients and the building community, MB Architects was founded and the momentum of the firm continues to grow. Matt is known for his honest approach to the practice and his ability to make the design process fun and casual, yet focused and effective. When not designing, Matt can be found with his family and friends recharging his soul in the rivers and mountains of the West.
